MILL HALL — The Clinton County Healthy Communities Dental Clinic, based along Hogan Boulevard, is conducting critical outreach to young children to teach them the importance of keeping their teeth clean, thanks to a $6,000 grant from the Clinton County Community Foundation.

The clinic’s Shelby Rice, RDH, PHDHP, has been busy doing presentations and dental screenings at several day-cares and elementary schools in the area.

The clinic did a public event at Robb Elementary and an event with the Kiwanis. But the nonprofit also will serve senior citizens in the community for free at an oral health fair at the clinic at 266 Hogan Blvd., Suite 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, according to April Hall, a public health dental hygiene practitioner.

Further, she said, the clinic will hold oral health screenings at the senior citizen EXPO in the Clinton County Community Center-STEP Inc., 124 E. Walnut St. in Lock Haven, from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 27, “and this event is also free.”

The clinic can be reached by phone at 570-748-6450 and by email at [email protected].

The clinic was launched because of need. Dental care isn’t cheap and, in rural areas, it’s not always plentiful because of fewer dentists.

Hall said people without dental insurance who would like to come to the clinic to determine their eligibility must reside in Clinton County.
