I’ve always done everything that I can to stay in shape. I am positive that is why I look so much younger than I am and felt so much better physically than other people my age. I’m getting up there in age though, so I do need a little help here and there. I see my chiropractor regularly for help with my lower and upper back. Outside of that, I don’t have any major health issues like most of my friends and family members who are also seniors. I know that there comes a time in life where there isn’t much you can do, but I have largely escaped having the aches and pains that I see other seniors dealing with on a continual basis.
I wasn’t very athletic as a young person. I was horrible at most sports, and I did not have much interest in them anyway. My parents tried to get me interested in softball and volleyball as a young girl. I was afraid of the softball every time it flew at me, and I hated how much running around I needed to do on the volleyball court. Thankfully, my parents gave up and let me do my own thing instead. When I got older, I found myself interested in hiking and aerobics, though. I had fun with both and really pushed myself to do them often.
I used to invite friends to get outdoors or go to the gym with me. Many of them had no interest in staying active. They are paying for that now because they are all have a tough time getting around now. I am 75 years old, and I still have the ability to get around pretty well. My body still feels young, and I appreciate that taking care of myself helps me to live a happy and more peaceful life. I will always do what I can to make sure that I respect the only body I have by trying to take care of it.
